Description

This texture wall hanging unit of work results in students making a wall hanging like the one pictured here.  Students explore texture and experiment with a broad range of media.  They research 4 texture artists. Ideal if you are planning a recovery curriculum after the pandemic.  This download includes:

  • A 20 slide PowerPoint (pictured above) that includes before and after photos and clear instructions for every stage.
  • A 6-page written unit of work with comprehensive teacher instructions for each stage.  Also, guidance for pre-project materials and resources preparation, materials for each stage, instructions for each stage, suggested homework tasks, self-assessment, extension task, how to incorporate art literacy, and ideas to extend this project even further.
  • An extension task texture-worksheet.
  • A self-assessment worksheet.
  • Letters to trace.

I am allowing 15 x 50 minute lessons to teach this in.

    Hey there,
    I Love your lesson plan, but I am wondering if slide seven is missing something. I don’t see where you got the metallic look.
    Also, for the construction part, do you think my students could use paper clips to put the individual letters together and then hot glue a piece of rope on top for hanging, instead of metal wire?
    Again, great lesson and resources for the price.

            My high school students loved this task! I allowed one lesson for each of the textures to be completed (70 minutes each). They chose a 7 letter word or repeated a shape 7 times to experience the different techniques

    Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

    I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.
