Psychedelic Pattern Vinyl Records

Psychedelic Pattern Vinyl Records! During this project students paint a vinyl record with a psychedelic pattern. I ran this as a very successful, popular art club. It made a wonderful display. Part of its success was my method for getting the pattern onto the vinyl record.

Included in this download:

  • A 12-slide PowerPoint with an introduction to Psychedelic art and step-by-step instructions on how to transfer and paint a pattern onto a vinyl record.
  • A 2-page lesson plan that structures teaching and is full of good advice.
  • 6 circular psychedelic patterns for students to choose from. These come in both A3 and Legal-size*.

Materials required: Old vinyl records. (Try your local record shop to see if they have unwanted, possibly scratched records that you could have.) Oil pastels, acrylic paint and brushes.

*A PDF can be printed any size by either using your normal paper size or selecting a paper size and then choosing ‘fit to page’.

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.

I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
