Description

These beautiful poppy seed head sketchbook pages show drawings in pencil, coloured pencil, coloured pencil on book paper, ballpoint pen, ballpoint pen on a painted surface, and white pen on black paper.

A WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like) shows students an example of the standard and level of detail expected in the task. Seeing a strong example helps students understand what success looks like and often raises attainment by encouraging greater effort, deeper observation, and higher-quality work.

Included in this download:

  • 2 PDFs of sketchbook pages (pictured here)
  • The same sketchbook pages are presented in a PowerPoint and Google Slides presentation.
  • A list of questions to ask students to help them really look at and analyse the drawings.

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.

I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
