Description

This Photopea Portrait Bust with Ivy task teaches your students some of the fundamental skills in Photopea with wonderful creative outcomes.

Photopea is a free website that lets you edit pictures and is a good, inclusive alternative to Adobe Photoshop.

You need no knowledge of Photopea or Photoshop, as the comprehensive instructions have everything a student needs. This makes an easy lesson for you or is an ideal task for homework.

Students need no experience and will learn:

  • How to create a new document.
  • How to add, move and resize images.
  • How to use layers to change, reorder and hide and reveal elements of a design.
  • How to use the Blend Mode Menu to enhance and create mood and atmosphere.

Optional ‘Further Learning’ tasks encourage students to explore Photopea further push their creative boundaries.

Included in this download:

  • A 4-page instruction packet that includes step-by-step images and instructions. (Print this double-sided or make available to your students privately online)
  • A one-page ‘Introduction to Photopea’
  • A good example that shows possible outcomes.

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.
