This 14-minute video, ‘Differentiation in Art,’ will help you build your knowledge about how to differentiate in your art room.
The course introduces you to using data, planning, knowing your students, supporting resources, differentiation by task and outcome, stretching the keen and able, verbal feedback, marking, and assessment.
Once you have watched the professional development, you will be able to download a certificate that includes your name, the name of the course, and the duration to evidence PD hours. Although the video is 14 minutes long, the duration/PD hours on the certificate is 1 hour to allow you time to consider how you will integrate what you have learnt into your teaching.
This course is ideal if you are new to teaching or at the start of your career and want to start building your knowledge about differentiation. It’s also great for your C.V.

Nice resource and reminders as we all need to continually use differentiation as we teach Art! Verbal Feedback orally & not of stamps, agree! Way to go giving us great resources as we teach creativity in our future leaders together!

I loved the differentiated HW idea and the application of it. More than anything I am grateful to be reminded that what I am doing in the classroom is differentiated instruction but the language used in most PD does not apply.
Thank you for your feedback.

I’m glad you found this course useful and reaffirming. Yes, whole-school PD is often not appropriate for art departments!

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.
I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.
I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
