Give your students the tools to create one of those eye-catching Elements of Art sketchbook pages you see on Pinterest—filled with doodles, colour, and creativity. Many students love this kind of visual task, but some can struggle with drawing neat outline fonts. That’s where this worksheet comes in. Each word is ready for them to decorate, doodle around, and colour in, making it a fun and accessible way to visually explore the Elements of Art. It’s especially effective when stuck in the back of a sketchbook and added to throughout the year, as each element is introduced in class. A perfect balance of structure and creativity!

UK Version uses the words ‘colour’ and ‘tone.

US version uses the words ‘color’ and ‘value’.

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.

I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
