The objective of this short course is to show you a range of ways to change the pages of a sketchbook to make them a more exciting place to work. When you embed these methods in your teaching, you will be teaching students to be creative and plan their pages. The training includes 7 different methods.

Once you have watched the professional development, you will be able to download a certificate that includes your name, the name of the course, and the duration to evidence PD hours. Although the video is 23 minutes long, the duration/PD hours on the certificate is 1½ hours to allow you time to complete the tasks within and consider how you will integrate what you have learnt into your teaching.

This course is ideal if you are new to teaching or looking to improve the presentation or creativity within your student’s sketchbook pages.

Materials Required: A sketchbook. Choose the sort of sketchbook that you would use with your students. Scissors, craft knife, guillotine or papercutter, brown packing paper, black sugar paper or other papers that you would like to be the background to a page, instant coffee, old envelopes, tracing paper, acetate, hole punch, metal ruler, watercolour, acrylic and brushes. I’d also recommend your favourite hot beverage or tipple and a delicious snack. After all, art is meant to be fun.

        This course about personalizing sketchbooks is full of creative and fun ideas! I’ve ordered sketchbooks for my 5th and 6th grade classes. This is something that I believe will really be exciting to them. Thank you so much for these very helpful video courses!

    Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

    I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

    I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.
