Bio

Peter Davis a professional fine artist and is passionate about passing on his knowledge to the next generation of artists. He delivers portrait workshops to primary and secondary schools and is happy to tailor his sessions to align with Key Stage 2, 3, 4, and A-level curriculums. Peter delivers his workshops across the Midlands and the North West, including Cheshire, Derbyshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Shropshire, South Yorkshire, Staffordshire, and the West Midlands. Peter is an elected member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA) and the Contemporary British Portrait Painters (CBPP). His work is held in both public and private collections, and he has been shortlisted twice for ‘Artist of the Year’ by Artists & Illustrators, the UK’s leading art magazine. In 2020, he was selected for the John Moores Painting Prize, Britain’s foremost contemporary painting competition, and for the 2024 Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Prize (formerly the BP Portrait Prize) at the National Portrait Gallery. In addition to being a prize-winning practising artist, Peter also serves as the archivist for MAFA and has written and published an art history book. Alongside his school workshops, he gives artist talks to schools, art groups, and societies.
