Narrative art is a powerful catalyst for discussion and an accessible way for students to engage with art. During this lesson you will introduce the idea of narrative art, model talking about a piece of art (this is all done for you in the lesson plan – just read it out!) and then students work in groups and feedback to the class. The PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation allows you to show the works of art on screen so the class can see them as each group feeds back.
Included in this download:
- A PowerPoint presentation (pictured about).
- The same presentation available as a Google Slides view-only link for quick, browser-based use (perfect for Chromebooks).
- 7 Artworks in one quick-to-print PDF.
- A 4-page lesson plan which structures the lesson for you and gives you child-friendly information about each artwork so you can support your students. No prep required!

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.
I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.
I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
